Kimaam Community Rejects New Autonomous Region (DOB)

The Kimaam community expressed their rejection of the establishment of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Kimaam during a DOB Kimaam socialization event in Pankat, Kelapa Lima, Merauke, South Papua, on Monday, June 9, 2025.

The community, along with several community leaders, youth leaders, traditional leaders, and church leaders, unanimously rejected the Kimaam DOB due to numerous unresolved issues by the regional government. The community also believes that the current availability of human resources is still lacking, despite Kimaam being rich in natural resources.

According to the Kimaam community, the imposition of a new autonomous region at this time would only serve the interests of the ruling elite.
