The Malind Tribe Rejects PT Borneo Citra Persada
The indigenous Malind people in Merauke, South Papua, staged a protest by holding a traditional sasi ceremony involving the planting of a Red Cross in Onggari Village on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
The Red Cross was planted by hundreds of Malind indigenous community members dressed in traditional attire. This act symbolized their rejection of the presence of PT Borneo Citra Persada and other investors that threaten the land and forests of the Malind Tribe.
The protest was attended by all traditional leaders and members of the Malind community. Several clan leaders, such as those from the Gebze, Mahuze, Balagaize, Kaize, and Ndiken clans, also participated.
The ritual of planting the Red Cross serves as a form of repentance and a symbol of unity between the indigenous community and the church in rejecting all forms of environmentally destructive investment in Malind territory.
The Malind people reject the presence of PT Borneo Citra Persada and other companies involved in the National Strategic Project (PSN) in Merauke. They oppose the PSN because it threatens the sustainability of the forests and environment in Merauke.
Suku Malind Menolak PT Borneo Citra Persada
Masyarakat adat Suku Malind di Merauke, Papua Selatan, melakukan protes dengan mengadakan sasi adat berupa penancapan Salib Merah di Kampung Onggari pada Kamis, 29 Mei 2025.
Penancapan Salib Merah dilakukan oleh ratusan masyarakat adat Malind yang mengenakan pakaian tradisional. Hal tersebut adalah simbol penolakan mereka terhadap keberadaan PT Borneo Citra Persada dan investor lain yang mengancam tanah dan hutan Suku Malind.
Aksi protes tersebut diikuti oleh seluruh tokoh adat dan masyarakat Suku Malind. Selain itu sejumlah kepala marga seperti Marga Gebze, Mahuze, Balagaize, Kaize dan Ndiken juga ikut serta.
Ritual penancapan Salib Merah adalah bentuk pertobatan sekaligus simbol persatuan masyarakat adat dan gereja untuk menolak segala bentuk investasi yang merusak lingkungan Suku Malind.
Masyarakat Suku Malind menolak keberadaan PT Borneo Citra Persada dan perusahaan lain yang tergabung dalam proyek strategis nasional (PSN) di Merauke. Mereka menolak PSN karena proyek tersebut mengancam kelestarian hutan dan lingkungan di Merauke.
