Payum Iwag Group Produces Plates from Coconut Leaf Sticks

The Payum Iwag Business Group sold several of their products during the National PSN Conference at the Petrus Vertenten Center, Kelapa Lima Subdistrict, Merauke District, South Papua, from Tuesday to Friday, March 11-14, 2025. One of the products they sold was kitchen utensils made from coconut leaf sticks.

As the name suggests, these utensils are made from coconut leaf sticks and are carefully crafted into plates and bowls. Honorata Gebze, the Chairperson of the Payum Iwag Business Group, who participated in selling products at the conference, stated that the utensils "are made from coconut leaf sticks."

The coconut leaf sticks are crafted into various items, not limited to plates. For instance, they also make fruit baskets and trays. The prices vary, ranging from fifteen thousand rupiahs to one hundred fifty thousand rupiahs, depending on the size and shape.

Kelompok Usaha Payum Iwag menjual beberapa produk mereka pada kegiatan Konferensi Nasional PSN di Petrus Vertenten Center, Kelurahan Kelapa Lima, Kecamatan Merauke, Kabupaten Merauke, Papua Selatan pada Selasa-Jumat, 11-14 Maret 2025. Salah satu produk yang mereka jual adalah perkakas dapur berbahan lidi.

Sesuai dengan namanya, perkakas-perkakas tersebut  terbuat dari lidi dan dirangkai sedemikian rupa sehingga berbentuk piring dan mangkuk. Honorata Gebze, Ketua Kelompok Usaha Payum Iwag, yang ikut menjual produk pada konferensi tersebut, mengatakan peralatan "ini terbuat dari lidi pohon kelapa".

Lidi kelapa tersebut dibentuk menjadi berbagai perlengkapan, tidak hanya piring. Ada misalnya tempat buah-buahan dan nampan. Harga yang ditawarkan bervariasi, mulai dari lima belas ribu rupiah hingga seratus lima puluh ribu rupiah, sesuai ukuran dan bentuk.
