Easter Parade in Merauke
A torch parade was held by the Catholic Youth (OMK) of the Merauke Vicariate, South Papua, on Sunday, April 20, 2025. The Easter parade was organized to commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The event began with a prayer and was officially opened by the Regent of Merauke, Yoseph B. Gebze, along with the Vicar of the Diocese of Merauke, Father Simson Walewawan. The parade commenced at 6:00 PM local time (WIT) from Saint Joseph Church in Bambu Pemali Subdistrict, Merauke District, Merauke Regency.
The parade concluded at the Archdiocese of Merauke Secretariat, located in Mandala Subdistrict, Merauke District, at 7:19 PM WIT.
At the Archdiocese Secretariat, the faithful were welcomed by the Governor of South Papua Province, Apolo Safanpo, and Bishop Mgr. Petrus Canisius Mandagi.
Pawai Paskah di Merauke
Tampak pawai obor yang dilakukan Orang Muda Katolik (OMK) Kevikepan Merauke, Papua Selatan pada Minggu, 20 April 2025. Pawai Paskah tersebut diadakan untuk memperingati Hari Kebangkitan Yesus Kristus.
Acara diawali dengan doa dan dibuka oleh Bupati Merauke Yoseph B. Gebze bersama Vikep Keuskupan Merauke Pastor Simson Walewawan. Perjalanan pawai dimulai dari Gereja Santo Yoseph di Kelurahan Bambu Pemali, Kecamatan Merauke, Kabupaten Merauke pada pukul 18.00 WIT. Pawai berakhir di Sekretariat Keuskupan Agung Merauke, Kelurahan Mandala, Kecamatan Merauke pada pukul 19.19 WIT.
Di Sekretariat Keuskupan Agung Merauke, umat diterima oleh Gubernur Provinsi Papua Selatan Apolo Safanpo dan Uskup Mgr. Petrus Canisius Mandagi.
